As we all know too well, the recent long lockdown hasn’t had the best impact on our skin. This has maybe made you curious to see what treatments are out there to help you with some of your skin concerns such as blackheads, those pesky maskne breakouts, lack-lustre skin or potentially, signs of ageing.

Rest assured we are here to help you with these issues and help you get back the glow! Both microdermabrasion and microneedling are hugely popular treatments in the beauty world and produce great results for improving the texture and appearance of the skin. But which one to choose? Hopefully the following information will help you decide which one is best suited for you…

Microdermabrasion:

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasion treatment designed to deeply exfoliate the skin from the top down, featuring a vacuum device that contains diamonds- maybe diamonds are a girl’s best friend after all?!

The device removes the top layer of the skin cells to stimulate new skin growth, which leaves it appearing fresh and rejuvenated. This can be used as a standalone treatment or combined in conjunction with chemical peels or even alongside microneedling to tackle more serious skin concerns.

What’s microdermabrasion suitable for?

  • Blackheads
  • Open pores
  • Mild Acne
  • Dull Skin
  • Age spots
  • Fine Lines/Wrinkles

How long does it take and does it hurt?

During the treatment you will experience little to no discomfort, due to it being non-invasive! The procedure only takes 30 minutes so you can even pop down on your lunch break or in between Zoom meetings as there is little downtime involved. Your skin may appear slightly redder than usual straight after the treatment, however this will subside shortly over the following hours.

Pricing:

Costs start from just £40 per session however we recommend a course of 6 treatments initially to successfully tackle your skin concerns. Check out more information here.

Microneedling:

Microneedling may sound intimidating due to the “needle” aspect, but we can assure you it’s not as scary as it sounds! The treatment involves a device that creates tiny punctures in the skin to trick it into thinking it is injured which therefore triggers the body’s response to repair itself. It then repairs as brand new, glowing skin!

At Simply Clinics the device we use is the Dermapen 3 which looks exactly like that- a pen!

In turn, this leads to “new skin” being created that is younger and richer in collagen and elastin, which are great at giving that healthy and youthful skin appearance. Here’s some amazing results we’ve had from our microneedling treatment:

With this treatment we are also able to infuse certain essential ingredients (e.g. Hyaluronic Acid) into the tiny punctures of the skin through a technique called Mesotherapy. This technique allows the ingredients to be absorbed more efficiently to the skin, rather than just applying topically to the surface like we do with serums.

What’s microneedling suitable for?

  • Acne
  • Scarring
  • Open Pores
  • Fine Lines and wrinkles
  • Pigmentation
  • Stretch Marks (including on the body)

How long does it take and does it hurt?

The treatment takes just 30-45 mins and repeat sessions are spaced between 4-6 weeks apart depending on the concern you are treating. You will typically see results after the initial treatment, however further treatments are recommended to maximise the results.

During the microneedling session you may experience mild discomfort due to the nature of the treatment however it should not be painful. We can also apply numbing cream to avoid discomfort altogether! You may also experience redness and sensitivity for a short period of time however this should subside within the first 48 hours or so.

Pricing:

Costs start from £125 per session. You will also have the option to add on additional treatments such as microdermabrasion, mandelic peel, mesotherapy and radiofrequency which are offered at a discounted price for either 3 or 6 sessions.
