Many people associate anti-wrinkle injections with frozen faces that we occasionally see on our screens and horror stories of people saying that they are unable to move their face. There are now so many options for places to go for this treatment, and with a new anti-wrinkle clinic popping up every day, it can be hard to know who to trust. We always stress the importance of choosing a medical practitioner for any aesthetic treatment. This is to ensure that they have extensive knowledge of the body’s anatomy and are prepared for any situations that may arise. Our Doctor (Dr Youssef) at Simply Clinics has over eight years of experience performing aesthetic treatments, so you will be in safe hands if you choose to come to us! In this blog post, we’re going to be discussing with you a bit more about what our anti-wrinkle injection treatment consists of and what areas it is able to treat.

What is it?

Anti-wrinkle injections, as the name suggests, is a treatment which promotes a smoother and more youthful appearance. It consists of a series of injections, which are used to relax the muscles that cause wrinkles and fine lines by repeated muscle movement. The results usually last for a period of around 4-6 months before the effect wears off naturally.

Instead of filling the lines like how a dermal filler treatment would, it prevents the skin from creasing and wrinkling at the source. For this reason, anti-wrinkle injections can also be used as a preventative treatment, to stop the occurrence of these wrinkles forming. Our prices for anti-wrinkle injections start from £120 per area.

What can be treated?

Practically anywhere on the face where you have wrinkles caused by muscle movement can be treated. We’re going to run you through some of the most common areas where this treatment is used in our skin care clinic. For our full list of treatment areas, you can check out this page.

Crow’s Feet

Whilst the wrinkles under eyes cannot be treated with anti-wrinkle injections (tear-trough filler may be a better option), it can effectively be used to smooth out the crow’s feet. Crow’s feet are often caused by the repeated action of smiling, which over time can lead to deep lines forming in the creases of the corner of the eyes. As you can see from the picture above, the treatment has not caused her to be frozen- she can still smile!

Forehead Lines

Horizontal lines across the forehead are often one of the first places that people wish to treat with anti-wrinkle injections. Again, these lines are typically caused by repeated expression and muscle movement in this area. Whilst the lines usually fade away when a neutral face expression is resumed, gradually over time these lines can be seen when the face is at rest. This can be a big cause of concern for some people, as they believe that these lines make them look older than they are and are often seen in patients in their late 20’s.

Glabellar Lines

The glabellar lines between the eyebrows are sometimes known as the “11 lines” or “frown lines”, due to their position on the face. Once again, these lines are often caused by repeated muscle movement in this area. Many people opt for anti-wrinkle injections in this area, as they believe that these lines make them look angry- (think Gordon Ramsay!).

Neck Lift

The neck is usually one of the most tell-tale signs of ageing as it is often forgotten by people when it comes to applying their beauty products and sunscreen here, despite it often still going through the same exposure as your face. Check out this post to find out more about why it is so important not to neglect the neck.

Fine lines can appear on the neck due to sun-damage and due to ageing, as the skin loses elasticity and collagen over time. This treatment is also referred to as the “Nefertiti Neck Lift”, which gets its name from the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, who was known for her long and elegant neck. It helps to improve the appearance of the fine lines in this area and also to prevent the skin from appearing as though it is sagging.

Our neck lift treatment starts from £150 per vial.

Medical Concerns

Aside from aesthetic purposes, anti-wrinkle injections can also be used to effectively treat the medical concerns of migraines and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Migraines can sometimes be caused by tension in the facial muscles, so therefore injecting some muscle relaxant into a few areas can help to reduce the frequency of migraines occurring.

In addition to this, excessive sweating can be unpleasant and sometimes embarrassing for the person suffering with it. The hands, feet and underarms can be treated with anti-wrinkle injections to effectively reduce the amount of sweat that is produced by the sweat glands.
