Acne

Acne is a common skin condition which affects most people at some point in their lives. Whilst acne can range from mild, moderate and severe, it can persist for many years and be caused by lots of different factors, sometimes making the cause of it difficult to identify.

This skin condition can occur in people of all ages, and whilst mainly is seen on the face, acne can also be present on the chest and back. The acne itself can also take form in different types, ranging from blackheads and whiteheads, nodules, papules, pustules and cysts.

Whilst there are many different causes of acne, it most commonly occurs due to hormonal changes, such as those seen around puberty, the menstrual cycle and can also be linked to hormonal birth control methods. Despite these factors, acne can also sometimes be genetic or can occur as a result of an underlying medical issue. If you have acne, it is important not to touch your face or pick the spots, as this may result in further acne being spread due to the bacteria. It’s not just a myth when you hear not to pick, squeeze or pop spots. Doing so may cause acne scarring. You should also wash your pillowcases regularly and ensure that you are cleaning your makeup brushes to kill any bacteria.

Whilst acne may sometimes require medical treatment especially in severe cases, there are a number of treatments that we offer at the clinics which may be able to help with your skin. For example, our Obagi Chemical Peel treatments are effective at treating mild acne and smoothing out texture issues. Alternatively, our Microneedling treatment is great at providing your skin with deep rejuvenation as it encourages your skin to replenish. This treatment can also be paired with other treatments such as our Juliette Armand Mandelic Acid Peel to target this skin concern.
