If you have had lip filler but you are not happy with the results you received, there is the option to get the filler dissolved or corrected. We know how hard it is to be unhappy with work done on your face as it isn’t somewhere that can be easily covered or hidden. Correction treatments can be performed on clients who have had filler from another practitioner and are not happy with the appearance of their lips post treatment.

Dissolving filler:

Lip fillers generally last between 6-12 months. However, if you decide you don’t want filler anymore or are unhappy with your lips, you have the option to choose to dissolve them at any given time after you have had your treatment.

What happens if I decide to dissolve my lip filler?

You will be injected with Hyaluronidase (Hyalase) which effectively breaks down the filler. Hyaluronic enzymes naturally exist in our bodies. This is why filler will only last between 6-12 months as it gets broken down naturally.

There are a number of reasons why you might decide to dissolve your lips. Here are some of the main reasons our clients come to us asking to get their lips dissolved:

  • No longer want filler

You may have got lip filler for the first time and decided that you do not like the result. Or maybe you prefer how your lips looked before. It is perfectly normal to change your mind and decide you no longer want filler.

  • Migration of hyaluronic acid

If the lips have been overfilled with filler, it can cause the substance to spread into other areas where the filler was not meant to be. In cases where the lips have been overfilled, typically, the filler has spread to above the lip. This can leave an unnatural and uneven result. To fix this problem and help you gain your confidence back, the filler can be dissolved and then refilled correctly.

  • Poorly placed filler

Quite often we hear of clients complaining that their filler from another practitioner has migrated. However, this is not always the case. In most cases, the filler has been placed in the lip incorrectly, on top of the lip wall. This means that the filler will not sit correctly.

  • Lumps and bumps

For the first couple of days the filler may appear to be slightly uneven as the hyaluronic acid settles in. However, if these lumps and bumps do not seem to settle down, then it may be necessary to dissolve the filler.

To prevent migration and lumps in your filler, it’s important to choose the right practitioner to do your lip filler. To inject filler you do not require a medical degree. Therefore, there are many practitioners who have little experience offering treatments for a low price. Often many people are taken in by these low prices but are then left with lips they do not like, and in fact it can be quite dangerous! At Simply Clinics we have our two amazing doctors. Dr Youssef and Dr Natasha who are highly qualified and provide excellent, undetectable natural results. Combined they have over 10 years of injecting experience and their GP backgrounds mean they are able to handle each case with extreme care.
