Did you know that the sooner you start injectables, the easier it will be to maintain a youthful appearance as you get older? For most of us we won’t think to do anything about our appearance until we start actually seeing sign of ageing. Once we see the first wrinkles showing, is when we think getting fillers or anti wrinkle injections. However, dermal fillers can prevent the ageing process from occurring and help to achieve natural looking refreshed skin.
We all want to look younger, so how can that be achieved with dermal filler? In this blog we are going to tell you everything you need to know about dermal fillers, so let’s get started…
What exactly is dermal filler?
Dermal fillers are cosmetic injections made of hyaluronic acid which are used to add volume to soft tissue. Hyaluronic acid is a gel-like substance which is naturally occurring in the body and is found in connective tissues and cartilage. It is used to fill in wrinkles, creases and folds, as well as add volume, definition and hydration. The main areas they are used in are eyes, cheeks, mouth and the jaw.
Hyaluronic acid fillers are also popular to use for lip filler as they can be used to add volume and shape directly into the lip and help treat thin lips. Other popular dermal filler treatments are non-surgical rhinoplasty, tear-trough filler, jawline filler, chin filler, cheek filler and nasolabial fold filler.
Take a look below at what dermal filler can do to different areas of the face:
When would I need to start getting dermal fillers?
Did you know that once we get into our mid twenties our collagen and elastin levels start to decline? This is what causes our skin to look aged and our face start to lose volume. But don’t worry – because dermal fillers work to replenish collagen and elastin, rejuvenating the skin, helping you to stay young!
How often do I need to top up filler?
The amount of time filler lasts is dependent on your lifestyle and how your body reacts. Typically it will last between 6 – 18 months, however, in order to maintain your desired look it is advised to have regular top up treatments.
Will it hurt?
Numbing cream is applied to help minimise any pain or discomfort, however, there may be some discomfort when the filler is being injected. This is minimised when you ensure you visit an experience practitioner who has knowledge on treating the area.
What if I don’t like my dermal fillers?
If you have got filler and are not happy with the results or decide you just don’t want it anymore, then the filler can be dissolved. Hyaluronic acid is naturally broken down by the body after 6 -18 months anyway, however if you decide you want it out sooner an enzyme can be injected to break down the filler. We offer Hyalase Filler Removal.
