Evenings are getting darker and days are getting colder, which can only mean one thing…. Winter season is well on its way! During these chilly months, it’s important to be taking extra care of your skin. The colder weather means lower humidity and more dry air which can cause your skin to become extra dry, or even crack and bleed if it is not looked after. That’s why we are going to be telling you our best tips to prevent this from happening and to save your skin this winter season!
Simply’s sensitive skin winter tips:
1. Avoid face wipes
Face wipes are never a good option for removing your makeup. This is particularly true if your skin has become dry. These wipes take all of the moisture out of your skin! Instead, we would opt for either a cream or oil-based cleanser which will help to remove any impurities and dirt from your skin while helping it stay hydrated!
2. Moisturiser for dry skin
Keeping your skin moisturised is key to combatting dry skin. When choosing which moisturiser to use, you should be picking one that is specifically for dry or sensitive skin. A thicker, more nourishing moisturiser is best for dry skin – we love the Obagi Hydrate, as it provides long-lasting hydration for up to 8 hours!
3. Don’t over exfoliate
Whilst it is important to ensure you are exfoliating your skin to remove any dead skin cells, over-exfoliating can be damaging to your skin if it is dry. If you start noticing dry patches, your skin probably needs a break from exfoliation.
4. Limit hot showers
If you’re someone who likes your showers boiling hot, I’m afraid we have some bad news for you… Using warm water as opposed to hot water will help minimise dry skin. Hot water can cause inflammation and your skin to become itchy and red. Hot showers also strip the skin of essential oils which are required to keep it moisturised. Without these oils, your skin will dry out even more, causing further damage.
5. Hydrating skin treatments
Certain skin treatments are essential for keeping your skin hydrated. While there are some treatments out there that will cause further irritation to dry skin, such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion, a Hydrafacial is gentle enough to help treat dry, sensitive skin.
So let’s talk more about the Hydrafacial…..
The Hydrafacial is the ultimate skin treatment for great skin health. What we love most about the Hydrafacial is that it’s a treatment which provides instant results! Skin will be smoother, softer and more hydrated visibly from the very first session. The Hydrafacial works for dry skin as it can be customised with LED light therapy which helps to reduce any redness and stimulates production of collagen and elastin. Deep hydration is provided throughout the whole treatment!
If you focus on incorporating these tips into your daily routine, you will be able to prevent your skin from becoming dry and damaged. Prevention is key to helping your skin this winter!
