Simply Clinics are proud to introduce an advanced new device into our clinics, the imedpen, the latest technology for microneedling. With adjustable needle depth and speed settings, our skin practitioners can now create a microneedling treatment that is completely bespoke to your skin type, concerns and goals.
What is microneedling?
Microneedling is the insertion of pinpoint needles into the skin, creating micro-channels for the purpose of creating a wound-healing response. This causes your skin to rapidly regenerate, repairing and rejuvenating the skin. It is a treatment that can be performed on all skin types.
What are the benefits of microneedling?
Microneedling stimulates collagen formation, and helps active ingredients penetrate the deeper layers of the skin more effectively which boosts the efficacy of your skincare products. To see best results, we would always recommend a course of 3-6 treatments with 4 weeks in-between each session. Recieve 25% off any add-ons for 3 session packages, and 50% off any add-on for 6 session packages. (internal link to pricing)
What skin conditions can microneedling help?
Microneedling can help with skin conditions and concerns such as:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Dark spots, pigmentation and hyperpigmentation
- Enlarged pores
- Damaged skin
- Loose or sagging skin
- Dry or dehydrated skin
- Acne and acne scarring
- Scarring in general
What should I do before my treatment?
Before any microneedling treatment, it is best to have skin makeup-free and cleaned thoroughly as well as avoiding sun exposure for 24 hours prior. Your therapist will prepare the skin properly before treatment. If you experience cold sores, start applying aciclovir cream two days in advance. Shave the treatment area a day before, especially if there’s significant hair (e.g. beard) and discontinue the use of acids at least 3-5 days before treatment (such as retinols).
Does microneedling hurt?
Microneedling treatments are relatively pain-free and feels like a light vibrating sensation on the skin with very light pressure applied.
Is there any downtime?
Your skin will appear pink/red for around 24 hours. Other reactions after microneedling may include tightness or slight flaking. Your skin should be back to normal within 7 days. How many treatments will I need? Some erythema (redness) may last up to 2 days post-treatment. Mineral-based makeup may be used after 24 hours and most can return to normal activities after microneedling treatments.
Do I need to use anything on my skin after treatment?
Your therapist will advise you on what product(s) are best for your skin after treatments. This will be recommended based on your skin condition, skin type and goals. Ask your therapist for more information. We will always recommend protecting your skin daily and especially after any skin treatments, with a broad spectrum SPF of factor 50.
