What Is It?
Profhilo is the newest injectable anti-ageing treatment that we are offering at Simply Clinics. It claims to provide a complete skin transformation and diminish many ageing related skin concerns. Profhilo contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market to smooth the skin in a subtle but effective way.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance. It is responsible for retaining moisture and is found in skin, joints and connective tissues. It is a humectant and is able to hold 1000x its weight in moisture.
With age, hyaluronic acid production within the skin slows down. This means that skin starts to look lack-lustre, dehydrated and fine lines and wrinkles become more noticeable. Skin elasticity also decreases, due to a reduction in collagen and elastin production.
What Concerns Can Profhilo Treat?
Profhilo is used most notably on the face, however it can also be used on the face, arms, décolleté, knees, elbows, hands and neck to fight signs of ageing here.
How Does it Work?
Profhilo is injected just under the surface of the skin into multiple injection sites. This enables it to disperse quickly into the skin’s tissues and instantly provides an influx of hydration. Over the next few weeks post treatment, the hyaluronic acid stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin. This helps to improve skin laxity and firm up the skin, giving it a youthful and healthy glow.
Profhilo is composed differently to dermal fillers in its structure. It is a non-crosslinking product, meaning that it stays in a runny formulation. This allows it to flow over a larger surface area and remodel the skin. Unlike dermal fillers, Profhilo is not designed to lift and give volume but instead to hydrate, smooth and stimulate the skin’s natural production of collagen and elastin.
It can be used as a complementary treatment, in conjunction with other enhancements such as dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections. We recommend having two initial treatments, spaced one month apart, with regular maintenance sessions every 3-6 months to maintain optimal results.
