With aesthetic enhancements becoming increasingly popular as time goes on, the market continues to saturate. But is there room for everyone, and has this lead to a surge in non-licensed practitioners providing treatments in an unsafe environment, potentially damaging the aesthetic industry reputation? Let’s find out more…
The last few years has seen a rise in non-qualified providers offering non-surgical treatments. Aesthetics providers have become incredibly easy to access, and with limited to minimal regulations safe guarding the industry, there are thousands of nightmare stories detailing ‘aesthetics gone wrong’, poor techniques leading to bad results, and in severe cases, permanent damage to peoples faces.
It has recently been announced that the UK Government are initiating a new licensing scheme that will make it illegal for any unqualified, unlicensed providers to carry out any aesthetics procedures, in order to minimise threats to their client’s health and safety. To offer any non-surgical treatment of any kind, all providers will be required to be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and have a specific licence for their treatments.
What does this licence require?
When it comes to finding an aesthetics practitioner, you must ensure they attain this license. Doing so means that they will have met specific health and safety requirements, hygiene standards for their facilities and potentially some medical device regulations. A high level standard of practice and training will also be required when attaining this license if they do not have it already. If you find a practitioner that is already CQC registered, you can rest assured that you are in safe hands and in the best place possible should any risks occur.
Having this licence also means that the products your practitioner uses are of a high standard and have are regulated, tested and consistently used within the industry. Typically, when providers are not licensed in this way, they commonly use products that are of a cheaper value and can potentially cause damage to their patient.
Are Simply Clinics licensed and registered?
The team at Simply Clinics are CQC registered and have years of experience in the industry. Dr Youssef and Dr Harry both have medical backgrounds – Dr Youssef also currently works alongside his aesthetics practice as a GP and Dr Harry is a peadiatric doctor, so you can rest assured you’re in the safest hands when being treated at Simply Clinics. With over 9 years of injecting experience, our patients feel confident putting their trust in us, showcased recently after winning the 2022 Health, Beauty & Wellness Award for being the Most Trusted Facial Filler Clinic in London (LuxLife, 2022). Our additional team of skin experts are all highly qualified to operate all skin care devices and trained on every skin brand and product used within our treatments.
We welcome this additional licence requirement and hope that it encourages safer practice for the aesthetics industry.
