What are dermal fillers?
The key ingredient of most fillers is hyaluronic acid, a sugar found in your skin, which is naturally broken down in the body. Its hydrating qualities help to make skin look fuller and minimise signs of aging.
Where can dermal fillers be used?
If you’re not sure whether fillers are right for you, please contact our friendly team at the Southgate clinic for advice.
How long do fillers last?
While the results of your filler treatment are immediate, how long they last often depends on factors including metabolism, the type of filler used and the area the filler will be injected. On average, you can expect your results to last anywhere from six months up to a year.
What’s the best brand of dermal filler for me?
At our Skin clinic Southgate, we use the following brands of dermal fillers: Restylane, Teosyal and Revolax. Which filler is used for your treatment will depend on the area being treated and what you’re hoping to achieve with fillers.
During your appointment, our doctor will talk you through our different fillers and develop a tailored treatment plan that will help deliver the best results for you.
Does having fillers hurt?
With any injectable treatment, including fillers, you may experience a slight discomfort during your treatment. To help keep any uncomfortable feeling to a minimum, our experienced doctor will apply aesthetic numbing cream to the skin where the injections will be administered.
Your dermal filler treatment should take between 15 and 45 minutes, but this is depending on the area being treated.
How to get the most out of your filler treatment
Before your filler appointment, we recommend taking arnica tablets for two days to help reduce the amount of swelling or bruising you may experience post-treatment. Please avoid taking any blood thinners, including Ibuprofen, Ginkgo Biloba or St John’s Wort 24 hours before your treatment.
After fillers, you might experience some redness and slight swelling in the treated area, but this should subside in a few days. Please avoid touching or massaging the area for the first 24 hours after treatment. Our doctor will provide you with aftercare advice to get the most out of your treatment. This will include not wearing make-up directly following your treatment, and avoiding contact with the sun, alcohol and coffee.
How much do fillers cost?
The cost of your filler treatment will depend on the area you’re looking to have dermal fillers and the type of result you’re looking for. Our founder, Dr Youssef will discuss the cost with you during your consultation.
As an example, our facial fillers start at £250 for 1ml. Please contact our Southgate clinic to book an appointment or to discuss next steps with our clinic staff.
