Want to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines without having to go under the knife? Micro-needling is the treatment for you.

Micro-needling is the latest anti-aging trend to keep us looking young and fresh for longer. What makes it great is that it is non-intrusive and safe to use for people of all ages.

How it works

Micro-needling doesn’t involve the injection of synthetic chemicals into the skin. It works by inducing our own collagen production with the use of miniscule needles.

A tool consisting of around 11 tiny needles between 0.5-2.5 millimetres in size is used to create micro-punctures on the outermost layer of the skin. Our body responds to these micro-punctures the same way it does to larger wounds; fibroblasts are signalled to trigger the production of collagen in the affected area. Basically, we’re tricking the body into thinking we’re hurt, causing it go to into repair-mode. As more collagen is released into our system, our skin plumps, its texture is improved and the signs of aging are reduced significantly.

How collagen production helps skin

Collagen is one of the most prominent type of protein in our bodies; most of our skin is made of it.

It gives our skin its elasticity, our hair its strength and most importantly, it’s the connective tissue that holds our skin together. As we age, collagen breaks down at a much faster rate than it is produced. Our skin no longer has the elasticity to bounce back to its original place and we’re left with fine lines and wrinkles.

Micro-needling simply stimulates the production of collagen; in turn, our skin’s elasticity is restored and the appearance of wrinkles, fine-lines and age spots is reduced.

Many anti-aging creams also claim to boost collagen but they cannot penetrate into the deep layers of skin.

Who is Micro-needling for?

Micro-needling is for anyone who could benefit from plumper skin. It works beautifully people with acne scars, age spots, wrinkles and fine-lines. As long as you don’t have a cystic breakout or a skin infection, you can benefit micro-needling sessions.
