We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – chemical peels are so much less scary than the name. It’s one of the most effective facial treatments you can have, as it combats multiple skin concerns – some of them being the most hardest problems to tackle. Acne, scarring, pigmentation, blackheads and in general, a whole skin rejuvenation – chemical peels can reduce the appearance of all of these. So what actually is a chemical peel and what does it do?
Let’s start with our Obagi Blue Peel. Containing salicylic, lactic and glycolic acids, the Obagi Blue Peel works to remove the surface layer of your skin that consists of damage and aged skin, improving its texture and skin tone. It encourages new skin turnover, old dead skin cells are removed leaving healthy cells in place.
You can have different depths of a chemical peel which is dependant upon your skin type and its sensitivity. This will be decided by your therapist and she can discuss this with you before your treatment. This is a strong peel and you can expect your skin to begin to peel for 1-2 weeks post treatment, depending on the strength of your peel.
Here’s a before & after of how a course of peels has treated acne, pigmentation & skin rejuvenation! For more, visit us on Instagram here.
Our Obagi peels start from £60, with a course of three available for £160 or six for £300.
A Mandelic peel mainly uses mandelic acid and provides your skin with deep exfoliation, whilst revitalising tired and dull skin and improving the appearance of pigmentation.
The peel is an effective treatment for lines and wrinkles and it’s anti-bacterial properties make it an extremely effective treatment for blemish prone skin. With it being a mild peel, all skin types and tones are suitable for this treatment and at only £40 for a stand-alone treatment, it’s hard to turn down!
The number of treatments needed depend on your skin type and the level of your concern. For more drastic concerns, it may take more treatments – yet between 1-6 treatments are usually enough to make dramatic improvement. You’ll see an improvement in your skin after your very first treatment, but you’ll continue to see results after 4-6 weeks!
Chemical peels aren’t painful, however you can experience discomfort such as tingling or a warm sensation during your treatment. Your skin can feel tight and red, but this feeling surpasses as soon as the peel has been removed.
