Microdermabrasion is a treatment that uses diamonds and a vacuum to deeply exfoliate and remove the top layer of dead skin cells. This process stimulates new skin growth and gives a fresh, young-looking glow to your skin.

A course of treatment can significantly improve a range of skin problems including fine lines, blackheads, mild acne, enlarged pores and tired dull looking skin. Microdermabrasion is often combined with other skin treatments such as Dermapen and chemical peels to treat more challenging skin complaints like acne scars, pigmentation, age spots, deeper lines and wrinkles.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1How does it work?
Diamond microdermabrasion is performed using a handheld device which contains a tip covered in diamonds to perform skin exfoliation. As the diamond tip is moved across the skin, it exfoliates the top layers and the vacuum sucks up the loose dead skin cells. Your skin responds as if it has had a trauma and sends new cells to the surface to replenish what is being removed. These new skin cells are much healthier improving the clarity, elasticity and texture of your skin.
2How many sessions are needed?
This will depend on the skin concern being treated, however, we normally recommend courses of 6-12 sessions to start. Our skin, however, will continue to age and become exposed to harmful pollutants and sun damage. It is therefore recommended to repeat treatments every 4-6 weeks to maintain a healthy skin layer.
3Is it painful?
Microdermabrasion is relatively painless with very little discomfort caused.
4Is it safe?
Microdermabrasion is one of the safest and most cost-effective treatments. There is very little downtime and often you can get on with your normal daily routine immediately after. Your skin may be slightly red and very mildly sensitive immediately after but this will settle very quickly. There is a small chance of mild bruising and dryness to the skin.
5How long will it take?
The procedure normally takes 30 minutes.
6When can I get started?
We will ask you to complete a medical declaration and our experienced therapists will assess your skin and advise on the best treatment protocol for you. You may be able to start immediately.
