FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1What is laser hair removal?
Laser uses energy from a specific wavelength to precisely target hair follicles thereby destroying the hair follicle.
2How effective is it and how many sessions do I need?
In most cases, you will see 25-30% hair reduction with each treatment session. Up to 95% total hair reduction can be seen after 6-8 sessions. Certain factors such as hormones, however, can affect the results and it may take more sessions to achieve the desired results.
3Is it painful?
With the use of the patented suction technology found in our laser, most people find it virtually pain free however it does depend on the area being treated and density of the hairs in that area.
4Can you treat any skin type?
Yes, all skin types can be treated. As long as the colour of the hair is darker than the colour of the skin then we should be able to successfully treat it.
5When can I get started?
Before starting treatment we will need to perform a ‘patch test’ and trial the laser on your skin. Don’t worry, you can normally get started 48 hours later!

PRE AND POST TREATMENT GUIDELINES

BEFORE TREATMENT

Do

  • Shave the area being treated the day before your treatment using soapy warm water.
  • Inform us of any changes that may apply to the medical declaration form you completed.

Do Not

  • Wear tight fitted clothing on the day of the treatment.
  • Apply any makeup creams the day of the session.
  • Expose your skin to sun-beds, the natural sun or apply tanning products SIX weeks prior to treatment.
  • Use skin peels or any products containing glycolic acid in the area to be treated at least TWO weeks prior to treatment.
  • Use hair removal creams.
  • Bleach the hair.
  • Remove hair from the root by waxing, threading, tweezing or epilating throughout the course of treatment.

AFTER TREATMENT

Do

  • Keep the skin hydrated with creams suggested by your therapist.
  • Apply a cold compress if the area feels hot or uncomfortable.
  • Contact us if you have any questions.

Do Not

  • Scratch the area after treatment.
  • Use perfumed creams, soaps or lotions on the treatment area.
  • Expose your skin to heat – e.g. sauna, hot baths/showers or exercising for 48hrs after treatment.
  • Exfoliate or perform microdermabrasion for 10 days after treatment.
  • Expose your skin to sun-beds, the natural sun or apply tanning products for TWO weeks after treatment.
  • Remove hair from the root by waxing, threading, tweezing or epilating throughout the course of treatment.
