How do thread veins develop?
Your veins contain tiny valves to ensure that your blood keeps flowing in the same direction. Occasionally one of these valves fails and blood starts to flow backwards causing the vein wall to bulge and stretch. If the vein bursts under this extra pressure it will bleed and the dried blood will be visible through your skin in the form of a red or purple thread vein.
Varicose veins develop through a similar process but they are larger and bulge out from the skin.
Why do some people get thread veins?
In fact, most people have thread veins. Some of us get more than others and if you have pale skin yours will be more obvious than those on darker skin. Varicose veins and thread veins often appear on the legs but thread veins are also very common on the face where they can be mistaken for rosacea or acne.
Many factors seem to play a part in the development of thread veins. These include a genetic predisposition, hormonal changes, particularly during pregnancy and menopause, extremes of temperature and sun exposure. Excessive consumption of alcohol is also a culprit. Bad circulation caused by both sitting too much or standing too much is another contributing factor.
As the above list shows, thread veins are a common problem but if they bother you then treatment at Simply Clinics Uxbridge can restore your smooth clear skin and boost your self-confidence. Thread veins can worsen with age but many of our clients are in the younger age group too.
How are problem veins treated in Uxbridge?
Thermavein is one of many types of vein removal but we think it is the best treatment to get rid of thread veins. You can use it on the face and body.
At our Uxbridge clinic, a medical professional always performs Thermavein. The expert inserts a tiny probe into the skin above the vein. This probe passes an electrical charge that seals the broken vein and fragments the visible dried blood. The thread will disappear immediately, but it may leave a slight bruise that fades quickly.
How long does a treatment session last?
Thermavein treatment typically takes around 30 minutes but will vary according to the size of the treatment area and the number of veins involved.
Most of our Uxbridge clients only require one treatment session but sometimes more will be required.
Does treatment to get rid of thread veins hurt?
Thermavein is not a painful treatment. Sensitive skin may be a little irritated afterwards and in this case, we recommend the use of soothing aloe vera.
No downtime is required and you will be able to continue with your daily activities.
Can broken veins come back after treatment?
The veins that have been treated will disappear for good.
However, if you are susceptible to thread veins more may appear in the future and need further sessions.
What is the cost of vein treatment in Uxbridge?
Thread vein removal in Uxbridge costs from £200. You can find out more about our payment plans and discounts for new customers here.
