What is a Lip Flip?

Lip FlipWe have been using lip fillers to create luscious lips for our clients for a long time, but now there is a new way to enhance the natural beauty of your lips – the lip flip.

The lip flip is a new treatment that uses Botox injections, containing botulinum toxin, to relax the muscles around the upper lip. The injections make the upper lip flip slightly upwards, creating an attractive lip contour and giving the appearance of a fuller upper lip.

This cosmetic lip enhancement procedure is just one of the many premium treatments provided at Simply Clinics, London’s most trusted aesthetics clinic.

You can book your initial consultation here.

What happens during a lip flip procedure?

The lip flip relies on the muscle-relaxing qualities of botulinum toxin injections above the mouth to relax the upper lip muscles, making them flip up into a curvier Cupid’s Bow.

Although no dermal filler is used, the new shape of the muscles creates the illusion of a fuller upper lip.

This minimally invasive procedure to the upper lip takes about 15 minutes.

Should I choose a lip flip instead of lip fillers?

Don’t think of the lip flip as a substitute for lip fillers. Yes, it is a lip enhancement treatment, but the lip flip and lip filler have different benefits.

The benefits of the lip flip treatment

  • The lip flip offers a subtle enhancement, discreetly improving the natural shape of your lips without actually adding any volume.
  • It is an excellent treatment for a ‘gummy smile’ as it limits the upward movement of the lip when you are smiling.
  • A lip flip involves the upper lip muscles only and requires relatively little product for such a small area, making it an affordable treatment.
  • A Botox lip flip requires less commitment than lip filler. It is a temporary treatment, as the effects of the Botox injections wear off after a few months.
  • The lip flip procedure specifically targets the muscles around the mouth and is not injected into the lip tissue.

The benefits of lip fillers

  • Lip fillers add volume to both upper and lower lips
  • Dermal fillers can be used to change the shape of thin upper and lower lips and correct uneven lips
  • Most lip filler injections contain hyaluronic acid, which hydrates the lips
  • Lip fillers reduce the appearance of vertical lip lines
  • Dermal fillers provide long-lasting lip augmentation

Is Botox Lip Flip treatment painful?

Our doctors are very practised at performing lip flip injections and will make the procedure speedy and comfortable for you.

We apply topical numbing cream before injecting Botox into the upper lip muscles so the lip flip treatment is carried out with minimal discomfort.

No recovery time is required after a lip flip, but you may experience minor swelling at the injection sites around the upper lip.

How long will the benefits of my lip flip procedure last?

The treatment’s effect takes a few days to develop, and the benefits of the lip flip typically last between 2 and 4 months.

Choose your clinic carefully.

Botulinum toxin injections are a popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure, but it is still essential to choose your injector carefully.

Like all Botox injections, lip flip treatment should only be performed by medical professionals with an excellent knowledge of facial anatomy. We are a doctor-led clinic, so you can be sure of safe and effective lip flip treatment at any one of our Simply Clinics locations.
