What happens during laser hair removal?
Lasers are used to apply heat energy directly into your hair follicles using a handheld device. The process damages the follicle, eventually making it unable to produce more hair. We ask you to shave the area to be treated before you arrive at the clinic so that the laser has direct access to your follicles.
We use the Lumenis Lightsheer Duet and Infinity systems for our laser hair removal as they are considered the industry’s gold standard treatments. Some laser hair removal systems can cause pigmentation on darker skin tones, but our lasers can deal with skin tones (shades 1 – 6). Our therapists will check that you are a good candidate before starting treatment.
Is laser hair removal painful?
Some clients report a slight prickling sensation during the treatment, but our therapists will make sure that you are relaxed and comfortable throughout. You may find that the treated skin feels a little tender after the treatment, but aloe gel can help cool it down. It is best to avoid hot baths and showers straight after treatment as the heat could irritate your skin further.
How many sessions are needed to eliminate hair growth?
It is impossible to say exactly how many sessions you will need before the treatment begins. The thickness of your hair can alter its response to the laser, and the size of the treatment area will also affect the number of sessions. However, the primary determinant is the growth phase of your hair when the follicles are lasered. Treatment is most effective when the follicles are in an active growth phase, but it is impossible to predict this. Typically, clients see a 70 to 80% reduction in regrowth after eight sessions but often require up to 12 sessions for best results.
How much does laser hair removal treatment cost?
Laser hair removal is not the cheapest hair removal method, but is the most effective and offers permanent hair removal. We offer special packages which can significantly reduce the total cost of your treatment. You can find full details of our prices here. Our regular client newsletter includes details of all our latest money-saving packages.
