How does laser hair removal work in Uxbridge?
At Simply Clinics, we use Lumenis Lightsheer Duet and Infinity systems, considered the gold standard in laser hair removal. The laser beam is directed into the hair follicle by one of our highly trained therapists using a handheld device. The laser’s light is converted to heat energy in the skin which eventually kills the follicle preventing further growth.
Unlike some other clinics, our treatment is suitable for all skin tones as in our Southgate clinic, we have 805 and 1060 wavelength machines. Our 805 machine is safe for photo-types 1-4/5 and 1060 is safe to use on 1-6 (darker skin tones). Less sophisticated laser systems cannot distinguish between dark hair and dark skin, leading to the laser causing unsightly pigmentation of the skin. As long as your hair is darker than your skin, we will be able to help.
We ask our clients to shave the area to be treated before coming for their treatment. This is important as it allows the laser unrestricted access to the hair follicle.
How many treatments will it take to remove my unwanted hair in Uxbridge?
Typically, our clients need between 6 and 8 treatments, but the required number of sessions will vary between individuals. Several factors will determine the speed at which your follicles respond to the laser. These include hormones and the thickness of your hair. However, laser hair removal treatment is most effective for all clients if done when the hair follicle is in its active growth phase. Unfortunately, it is impossible to know when this occurs. While most of our clients see 70 – 80% hair reduction with between 6 and 8 sessions, it could take up to 12 sessions to eliminate hair growth.
