If you are interested in having dermal filler, it is only natural that you would want to achieve the best results. It seems as though you can’t go through your feed nowadays without seeing a perfectly crafted pair of lips and sculpted jawlines, making the expectation for perfection even higher. On the flip side, there is also a lot of scaremongering out there about “botched” jobs and bad filler results, so it can be difficult to know where to start! In this Blog Post, we are going to guide you through our top tips to help you achieve the best filler results…

  1. Experience Over Cost

As experts in the industry, we find there’s still a lot of education to be done on this topic. Admittedly, no one likes spending money, but when it comes to your face, it is better to make the investment.

One of the sayings that we love, is “look for the injector’s skill, not the price per ml”. There is a huge array of injectors out there offering filler at discounted prices, even as low as £80 per ml. This begs the question- why are they so cheap? Sometimes things really are too good to be true. It is always best to choose your aesthetic practitioner due to their skill and expertise, not just because they offer cheaper prices than others. Choosing your injector solely based on price is a sure-fire way to end up with bad results and may end up costing you more in the long run to dissolve and restart.

Your injector should have a well-established portfolio of work, such as before and after images. If your practitioner does not have this, it may be better to look elsewhere. If you choose someone who is new to injecting, they will be less experienced and may not be as aware of any warning signs for potential complications, such as vascular occlusions.

At Simply Clinics, it is always a doctor injecting. All of our aesthetic treatments are carried out by our founder and practicing GP, Doctor Youssef Haffar. Doctor Youssef graduated from Southampton University in 2008 with a degree in Biomedical Science. He then went onto become a practicing GP in 2013, which is when his interest in non-surgical procedures started and Simply Clinics was born.  Check out Doctor Youssef’s dermal filler transformations on his Instagram!

  1. Filler Techniques

Every person is unique, and so is every injector! There are lots of varied techniques out there for dermal filler, which all provide different results. One of the most well-known ones is the Russian lip technique. This involves a series of multiple injections using the “tenting” method. This is where the filler is injected vertically into the cupid’s bow to lift and shape the lips.

Whilst they may look impressive in the before and after pictures, in our opinion we recommend avoiding going to an injector who uses this technique. In our experience, this technique is often more prone to filler migration and over time does not look natural. 1. Quality of Filler

Another factor to take into consideration is the products that the injector is using. There are many different filler brands on the market and once again, each brand provides a different result. It is important that you go to an injector who is open with you about which filler brand and type they are using.

At Simply Clinics, we use dermal fillers from the leading brands, Restylane and Teosyal. These brands produce high-quality products that are safe, effective and provide beautifully natural long-lasting results. If your injector is significantly cheaper than others in your area, another reason for this could be that they are using poor quality fillers, so be aware of this!

  1. Avoid Package Deals

Lots of injectors that you come across on Instagram are promoting their “Kim K packages”. A filler package involves multiple mls of filler spread across the face to rejuvenate and sculpt it. Typical areas included in filler packages are chin, jawline, lips, cheeks and nose.

A downside to package deals is, that they are not customised and are not unique to you. You may not need lip filler to achieve the best results, but instead just need a small amount of chin filler to balance your profile, but package deals do not always consider this. Many people who opt for package deals end up looking overfilled and sometimes even “puffy” as too much filler has been placed unnecessarily.

Instead, it is better to have an in-depth consultation with your practitioner and discuss your areas of concern. Your practitioner should work with you to manage your expectations and decide upon the best treatment plan that is unique to you.
